GLENDALE’S STEPPING STONE PLAYERS ANNOUNCES
PARTNERSHIP WITH HOOVER HIGH SCHOOL
The Stepping Stone Players,
“Community Theatre at its Best,” is pleased to announce the formation of a
working partnership with Hoover High School in Glendale. The new partnership
offers a unique opportunity for GUSD to work in tandem with an outside group to
enhance the performing arts curriculum at the high school level.
SSP believes that our success
has been due in part to the tremendous support and cooperation from the Glendale
Unified School District. All of our professional-quality productions have been
staged at Hoover High School, utilized students from the Hoover Cluster in
addition to other GUSD schools, and provided an invaluable mentoring program in
all areas of theatrical production at no cost to the participants. We are now in
our fifth successful year of producing a major musical comedy in the
auditorium/theatre at Hoover High. Our current summer program benefits SSP,
community members, and participating GUSD students.
On June 11 we will present the first cooperative venture/fundraiser of
our new partnership with Hoover, involving the Garri Dance Studio in Burbank and
entitled “From the Top.” This will be a dance recital/cabaret production
including live performances from our wonderful Drama students at Hoover.
Directing duties for the “drama” portion of the evening will be split between
Hoover’s Drama teacher and the professionals from the SSP Board of Directors.
The Stepping Stone Players’
upcoming production will be the ever-popular The Music Man, which
will play three weekends in September at Hoover High and will involve Hoover
students in all aspects of the production. We are also planning another
fundraiser which the entire family can enjoy. “Those Were the Days” is our
annual barbecue/ “country fair” event on May 7, 2005 at a beautiful private home
in Glendale. Reservations for all SSP events can be made at (818) 246-8822.
